Day 13&14: SA + Drive to Port Alfred + The Halyards Hotel

Today’s tidbit: “To travel is to live.” ― Hans Christian Andersen

After a wonderful 2 night stay in Coffee Bay, we continued on to Port Alfred. It was one of the longest road trips stuck in the bus, but I enjoyed seeing the different landscape and housing along the way. In the evening we arrived at The Halyards Hotel, which is set along the waterfront of the stunning Royal Alfred Marina.

{The Halyards Hotel} After a long drive, we finally arrived at our next destination where we stayed one night.

As the website states, “The Halyards Hotel lies in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, set along the waterfront of the stunning Royal Alfred Marina and surrounded by majestic coastline. Boasting a refined nautical inspired style and with classic and cool interiors, the luxurious en-suite rooms and suits and unparalleled views of the marina.” Read more.

I wish we had longer to explore Port Alfred and stop at Port Elizabeth but we had to continue on. Check back next week as we head along the Garden Route and Southern Cape.

LOOKOUT… more potholes, construction and hours on the road exploring this vast country brought us to this lovely marina location. A full day to explore this town and area should be incorporated in any future trip or better yet, rent a house on the water for a week. Wasn’t the sky and weather just perfect for a harbor cruise?

What town? Sadly I cannot even remember what it was called … such a rush! That is also where our San Franciscan friends temporarily left us. But Port Alfred was special!

Agreed, it was a rough road getting there but it was beautiful! The problem with tours sometimes is the schedule, but we were fortunate to be able to see and experience so much!
